Practice Management

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. Reception

Receptionists are asked to collect brief information from patients: 1 – to help doctors prioritise phone calls and house visits, 2 – to ensure that all patients receive the appropriate level of care, 3 - to direct patients to see the nurse or HCA, signpost to the appropriate service or other health care professional rather than a doctor where appropriate. Reception staff, like all members of the team, are bound by confidentiality rules. Any information given by you is treated strictly confidential. The practice would take any breach of confidentially very seriously and deal with accordingly. You can ask to speak to the receptionist in private away from reception. However if you feel an issue is very private and do not wish to say what it is then this will be respected.

Community Nurses

Phil Hunter and his team can be contacted on 402556. They provide home nursing services mostly for the housebound, elderly, chronically sick and people who have had recent operations. Evening and weekend telephone NHS DIRECT 111 and leave a message on the answer machine.

Health Visitors

We no longer have a named health visitor who is based at our practice and sees all of the children that are registered with us. Health visitors are now locality based – where you live will depend upon which health visitor you see. If you need to speak to a Health Visitor you can telephone Atkinson Health Centre on 845946. Alternatively, you can phone the surgery and we will advise you who your health visitor is and how you can contact her. Non urgent messages can be left at the surgery.
